New saints iconography

New saints are the martyrs to Christ who became victims of persecution during anti-religious campaigns from 1917 up to 1955 and later were canonized. The majority of them were added to Synaxis of New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church. Painting icons of new saints is of special interest to us as it enables to unite the life-like portrait with the traditions of modern icon painting based on the remaining photos, portraits and newsreel footage.
