About the family workshop
We started icon painting in the beginning of the 80-ies when there were no schools, no workshops but a bunch of enthusiasts who came to God and were amazed by the beauty and unique character of Russian and Byzantine icons. For many people it was the icon that became the brightest and the strongest evidence of God’s existence.
A naturalist sees the evidence of God’s existence in the uniqueness and the beauty of the world around us. The same is true for an artist who sees a way to learn the Divine art through old icons. The excellent samples of Byzantine and Russian icon painters that have survived to this day serve not only as an inspiration and a model to be emulated but, first of all, an evidence of a Divine Revelation and the Manifestation of God.

We have been into icon painting for many years and raised the second generation of icon painters:
— The eldest son Alexander has been painting icons for more than 15 years, he’s got his personal projects as well working a lot abroad.
— The eldest daughter Irina graduated from the Faculty of Arts of the Textile Academy and she helps us in painting.
— The youngest son Seraphim graduated from the Sculpture Department of the Surikov Art Institute and now he carves icons and does wood and stone carving for churches.
Now it’s turn of our granddaughter to keep the ball rolling: she is studying at the Moscow academic art lyceum. We dedicated our life to icon painting which has become our family business over the past 30 years. We are happy to be able to do what we love and see that our children share our passion.
